Toilets
Most toilet blockages are wipes, sanitary products, or too much paper at once. We clear the pan and the pipe behind it, then check the drain outside. If several toilets are affected, or the downstairs toilet bubbles when upstairs is flushed, the blockage is in the main drain and we'll clear that too.
Kitchen sinks
Kitchen waste pipes block with fat and food that set solid in the trap and the pipe run outside. We clean the trap, clear the waste pipe, and jet the external gully if it's full of grease, which is what usually brings the problem back.
Baths, basins and showers
Hair and soap build-up are the usual cause. We strip and clean the trap, clear the waste, and check the fall of the pipe.
What it costs
We don't charge by the hour. After the £49 call-out, our engineer inspects the drain and gives you a fixed price on site, with no obligation to go ahead. If a big blockage or a full manhole takes longer than expected, the price doesn't change.
Common questions
Should I use chemical drain unblocker first?
We'd avoid it. Strong chemicals rarely shift a solid blockage and can damage plastic traps and seals. They also make the job dangerous for whoever clears it afterwards, so please tell us if you've used any.
Why does my toilet gurgle when I run the sink?
Gurgling usually means air is being pulled through a trap because the drain further down is partly blocked. It's worth getting it checked before it blocks fully.
